Boundary Waters

Protecting Our Shared Waters

Lake Roosevelt

The Boundary Waters Program works to protect and enhance the water quality along the borders of the Colville Indian Reservation — where waters connect with state, federal, and Canadian jurisdictions. As stewards of the land and water, we are committed to protecting these vital resources for current and future generations.

What We Do

  • Coordinate boundary water protection efforts with Washington State, U.S. federal agencies, and Canadian authorities

  • Support the Lake Roosevelt Water Quality Council through research, monitoring, and collaboration

  • Lead as Administrative Trustee for the Upper Columbia River Trustee Council

  • Assist with cleanup efforts under the Upper Columbia River CERCLA (Superfund) process

  • Monitor and communicate pollution impacts to water, fish, and soil

  • Issue fish consumption advisories to help protect community health

  • Provide guidance on soil safety related to pollution and land use

  • Help manage and interpret the Upper Columbia River resource consumption health survey
